From there, you travel to the remarkable Ngorongoro Crater within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its dramatic volcanic landscape and abundant wildlife.

Day 1 Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park

Your journey begins in Nairobi as you depart in the morning and head toward Lake Nakuru National Park, driving through the scenic landscapes of the Great Rift Valley. Along the way, enjoy the changing views of escarpments, valleys, and small towns before arriving at the park in time for lunch.

Later in the afternoon, set out on your first guided game drive. Lake Nakuru National Park is well known for its impressive populations of both white and black rhinos, as well as Rothschild giraffes, lions, buffalo, and a rich variety of birdlife. The lake itself often hosts large flocks of flamingos and pelicans, creating a colorful and lively scene.

After your game drive, head to The Cliff Nakuru, a beautiful luxury lodge set dramatically on a cliff overlooking the lake. From here, you can relax and take in the sweeping views of the park below.

Day 2 Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara

Start your morning with a peaceful boat ride on Lake Nakuru, a lovely way to experience the lake from a different perspective while watching the birdlife and enjoying the calm surroundings.

Afterwards, continue your journey to the famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. The drive takes you through scenic countryside and local villages, offering a glimpse into everyday life in rural Kenya.

As you approach the reserve, your safari begins right away with an en-route game drive, where you may spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, and perhaps predators like lions or cheetahs.

You’ll stay at the elegant Sand River Masai Mara by Elewana, a luxury camp located along the Sand River and designed in the classic style of the golden age of safari.

Day 3 & 4 Exploring the Maasai Mara

Spend the next two days exploring the remarkable wildlife of the Maasai Mara National Reserve on full-day guided game drives. The Mara is one of Africa’s most iconic safari destinations, known for its wide open plains and abundant wildlife, including the famous Big Five.

If you’re visiting during the migration season, you may witness the extraordinary Great Migration, when thousands of wildebeest and zebras move across the plains and rivers in search of fresh grazing.

Your stay also includes memorable safari experiences such as:

  • Sundowners in the bush, where you can enjoy drinks while watching the sun set over the savannah.
  • A bush dinner, a special evening meal served under the African sky surrounded by the sounds of nature.

A hot air balloon safari at sunrise, offering breathtaking aerial views of the Mara and its wildlife.

Day 5 Maasai Mara – Serengeti North

After breakfast, leave the Mara and travel toward the Kenya–Tanzania border at Isebania Border Crossing, where you’ll complete the necessary immigration procedures.

From here, continue into Serengeti National Park, one of the most famous wildlife reserves in the world. You’ll head toward the northern Serengeti, an area particularly known for dramatic river crossings during the Great Migration.

Enjoy wildlife sightings along the way as you drive through the vast plains of the Serengeti to your camp.

Day 6 Serengeti North

Today is dedicated to exploring the wildlife-rich northern Serengeti. This region is especially famous for the Mara River crossings, where thousands of wildebeest and zebras attempt to cross crocodile-filled waters during the migration.

Throughout the day, your game drives may reveal lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, hyenas, and many other animals that thrive in this remarkable ecosystem.

Day 7 Serengeti North – Central Serengeti

After breakfast, set out with a packed picnic lunch for a scenic game drive as you travel south through the Serengeti toward the central region, also known as the Seronera Valley.

This area is considered one of the best places in the park for wildlife viewing, especially for spotting big cats such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards.

Later in the day, arrive at Serengeti Pioneer Camp by Elewana, a beautiful camp that captures the spirit and style of the early explorer safaris.

Day 8 Serengeti – Ngorongoro

After breakfast, depart the Serengeti with a final game drive as you exit the park and travel toward the stunning Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to the famous Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and one of Africa’s most remarkable wildlife habitats.

You’ll spend the night at The Manor at Ngorongoro, a luxurious lodge surrounded by green hills and coffee plantations.

Day 9 Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha

After breakfast, descend into the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day safari on the crater floor. This natural amphitheater holds one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa, including lions, elephants, buffalo, flamingos, and the rare black rhino.

Following your exploration and a picnic lunch, ascend from the crater and drive to Arusha.

Here you’ll stay at the charming Arusha Coffee Lodge, set within a working coffee plantation.

Day 10 Arusha – Kilimanjaro Airport/Zanzibar

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before your transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight.

There is an optional extension to the beautiful island of Zanzibar, where you can unwind on pristine beaches and enjoy a relaxing end to your East African adventure.

Your Kenya and Tanzania safari comes to an end, leaving you with unforgettable memories of Africa’s wildlife, landscapes, and warm hospitality.
